On the Trail

I guess it went about as good as it could. We left San Angelo with our new bus driver, Barry. We drove and drove and drove. We had lunch near Ft. Worth. As normally happens, the very next spot we could have pulled over at had a PF Changs. It made the Taco Bueno option seem like a large mistake.

We pulled into Longview and found the church. What a great place. It happens to be where George and Edwins mother Beth use to go to church. There family was there, including the twins Grandparents along with some of the Walker clan. It's always nice to see familiar faces.

The folks at the FUMC of Longview were great. They treated us to, surpise, surprise, chicken speghetti. It was actually very good! There church is very nice and the stain glass artwork is incredible. We were treated to our first devotional by the kids when Mallory Mellott, Kristen Escalona, and Hannah Bozeman discussed a passage from Phillippians and noted how we are all Different, But the Same. They discussed some of the common bonds we have with the cities we are visiting. Among other things, we learned that Coca-Cola is headquartered in Atlanta, but you can still buy one in San Angelo. They also informed us that a historical hero in Meridian, Mississippi is named Fred Key. What do you know, we have a Fred Key in San Angelo. They did a great job and I look forward to some of the devotions to come.

The performance went very well. The energy was great and the crowd was above average. We used to keyboardist for the first time. It worked very well. We then headed to McDonalds for a treat and back to the hotel. All in all, we're off to a good start. So far, you can be proud of your kids behavior. Of course, it's early and anything can happen! We'll see you down the road.
