Know Your Godspeller

Next, from my point of view, let us look at Brett Wesley and Savanah Williams. Brett will be a Senior next year and Savanah (with just one N) will be an 8th grader at Glenn Middle School.

Brett came to us a couple of years ago from Plainview, Texas. He had something like dreadlocks. He looked like that one guy from High School Musical. He is a drummer in the CHS band. He is a very talented performer. Savanah is, too. She sings very well and definitely has been performing beyond her years. She plays sports and, generally, makes the "A" team.

Brett will join our Tour in Atlanta. Yes, I am picking him up from the airport! Then he'll assume his role as Jesus Christ. He is also an above average singer. He has Edwin's back in the tenor section. Savanah will be, as you can probably guess, a Piggy. She will also be a Baby. But someday, she will be whatever she wants to be. She's that good!

One of these youngsters sang at their siblings baptism. The other one will probably attend Texas Tech sometime down the road. Figure this out and you, too, will Know Your Godspeller!

Know Your Godspeller

In this *special edition* of know your godspeller we take a look at one of my personal favorites Jeffrey Jay Bozeman. He is a CPA at Oliver Rainey and Wojtek, and is great at what he does.

Jeffrey is an amazing husband to his beautiful wife Trudy, and is an even better father to his daughter Hannah and his two very cute dogs Bubba and Schatzie. Sometimes I don't know how I would survive without him.

As most of you already know he plays a very important role in Godspell. I mean where would we be without the SOUND TEAM? ((He is pretty amazing!))

This Godspeller might have little hair...but he has a very big heart!! Figure this one out and you too will know your Godspeller!

Love Always~

Today's edition features Jaclyn Johnson and Kate Lewis. These are awesome girls. They will both be freshmen at the CFC after terrorizing Glenn Middle School. These girls are extremely smart.

Jaclyn plays sports and makes exceptional grades. She intends to be Valedictorian at CHS. Good luck to her. She is very sweet and, since this picture, is sporting a new shorter hairdo. She's looking fine! Kate is great. Her attitude and personality are so exceptional that she was personally invited to be part of the Sound Team in Spirit. That coveted position is reserved for the finest Godspellers. Actually, they just need to be reasonably well behaved. Kate fits the bill.

This is Jaclyn's second Tour and she may utter the phrase, "Holiday Inn.....Holiday Inn...." Kate is a tour rookie and is Jaclyn's understudy. Should Jaclyn not be able to fulfill her duties, Kate will be right there ready to step in. Actually, they have done very well and will deserve large roles in the future.

One of these girls belongs to Troop 122 in the Girl Scouts. The other one's best friend intends to be Valedictorian at CHS (See above related note). Figure this out, and you too, will Know Your Godspeller!

SPIRIT to be blessed on Sunday!

Actually, we're blessed pretty much all the time. However, this Sunday, June 3rd, we will receive the "formal" blessing from our congregation at FUMC during the 10:45 worship service. Please remember to wear your new Godspell Tour T-Shirts.

Angel

This is for ALL our crew, not just the First Methodist kids. We want all of Spirit to be recognized and to recieve this blessing. We are scheduled to sing. The last I heard, and it is ALWAYS subject to change, we are going to sing All Good Gifts. This will be a great chance for us to practice that song. I have not heard if we will have to include the added "leprechaun duck walk with a twist" choreography that we will be doing on Tour. Me thinks we need more practice!

If they (Tony) decide to sing something else - good luck with that!

Janie Baby Update

From Laura:

God is good!!! Prayers have been answered! Jane is going to feel better than ever! No more pain! Hallelujah!!

Dr. Duarte has released Jane to go on tour with Spirit. We will have to baby her for the trip. No bending, lifting, twisting, etc. (as to be expected).

Spaz

So we can all breathe a collective sigh of relief for Jane's healing, as well as the performances. So all is a go!!!

See all in tour T-shirts on Sunday @ 10:45 service for our collective blessing from the congregation, as well as Spirit singing the offertory.

Callie Fuchs - My Favorite Godspeller?

Recently it has come to my attention that Callie Fuchs is my favorite Godspeller. While I do not intend to treat any of the kids differently, sometimes it just happens. I pledge to do my best not to play favorites with her and will go the "extra mile" to insure this does not happen again! She will be a Junior next year and don't you forget it!

That is all.

Know Your Godspeller

I'm not independent in my next view. Here we have Mallory Mellot and Hannah Bozeman. These are great kids. I coached both of them back in the day and have always enjoyed their presence.

They will both be freshman next year at the CFC. They both play lots of club volleyball for the Matrix. Mallory is awesome. She's a great kid to have around. She's very polite and sweet. Hannah is my all time favorite Godspeller. She was President of the Junior National Honor Society at Lee Middle School this year. She loves the Spirit program and has worked hard to recruit new members. Both of these girls make excellent grades and are well behaved.

Mallory will reprise her role as a "baby," while Hannah is a Sower of Seeds. Mallory is normally the cute one in front while Hannah is the tall one in back.

One of these girls has a real handsome dad. The other one's dad flies airplanes. Figure that out and you, too, will Know Your Godspeller!

Another group of great kids includes Matt Groth and Jamie Kennedy. I really enjoy having them in Spirit as they add a lot to our group.

Jamie will be senior next year. I taught her in Confirmation class and prayed for her for a year as her prayer partner. I've loved her like my own and think she's one of the coolest kids ever. She is kind of a goat raising person and works at a bowling alley. Matt is going to be in the 11th grade next year at CHS. He is a very talented musician and singer. He's currently sporting a very full head of hair. He sat behind me on the bus last year and we had a great time.

You'll see Jamie as the Day By Day girl and Matt as John the Baptist and the Jackass.

One of these kids loves the Beatles. The other one has a pierced nose. Figure this out and you, too, will Know Your Godspeller!

Now our look takes us to to great kids. Not just good, I'm talking great. Edwin Mayer and Callie Fuchs are two great Godspellers. Edwin has just graduated from Central High School and Callie will be a Junior. They are both Spirit veterans.

I'm sure there are better singers than Edwin, but I sure don't know them. He is simply very impressive and we are wearing that talent out. He probably feels abused by now. He was named 5th chair tenor at the state level this year. He will be attending SMU in the Fall. I suspect he will soon be auditioning to be the next American Idol. Callie is about as sweet as they come. She is extremely personable and a delight to be around. Spirit is a big part of her life.

Edwin portrays John the Baptist in our program and sings a few of the songs. His rendition of All Good Gifts is worth the effort to attend this program. Callie has a few lines and can be seen as a Servant and the Maid.

One of these kid's mother attended high school with me. The other one has the same birthday as their brother. Figure this out and you, too, will Know Your Godspeller!

Know Your Godspeller

Our next look is at Claire Bryan and Annabelle Cole. They just completed their freshman year in high school. They are part of the Spirit "Divas" as they expect to be treated as the special girls they are!

Both of these girls enjoy tennis and attended the U.S. Open in New York last year. They, also make very good grades in school. Claire is a great singer and Annabell is just a great kid to be around. They are both a joy and great additions to our group. Annabelle attends FUMC and Claire hangs out at Sierra Vista UMC.

These girls have some great roles in Godspell. You might hear Annabelle sing Light of the World. You might hear Claire on By My Side. They'll also sneak in a line or two along the way.

These are great kids. One of them is named after one of her mother's best friends. The other one is going to Hawaii the week we get back from Tour. Figure this out and you, too, will Know Your Godspeller!

Know Your Godspeller

Now, lets look through my eyes at a couple of eigth graders. Rebecca Sussdorf and Jessica Burner are country girls. Actually, they live and attend school in Grape Creek. Rebecca recently transferred to Water Valley. I've learned that just because they live out in the country, that doesn't necessarily mean they dip snuff!

Jessica is a basketball stud and plays on a travel club squad. Sussdorf (Rebecca) is also an athlete. These girls make very good grades, and according to thier former principal, are delightful students. I would agree. I suspect these are the two least likely kids we have that would get into any trouble on tour. Of course, anything is possible! They both tend to be very quite until they get to know you, and then, they'll come out of thier shell.

The girls have an occasional line in our show. Jessica toured with us last year and performed very well. Sussdorf is a Tour rookie. We'll be expecting big things from them in the future.

One of these girls has two little sisters. The other one is a marginal dancer, at least at this point. Figure this out and you, too, will Know Your Godspeller!

Our continuing look at our youth from my point of view brings us to Cameron Walker and Seth Moore. These are great guys who have been my friends for a long time. I taught Seth in Confirmation class in 6th grade. Next year he will be a senior in high school. Cameron has been around for ever and is quite the veteran Godspeller.

Cameron is a swimmer at Central High School and did very well this season. He will begin his college career at Angelo State with hopes of ending it at Texas A&M. He is a great performer and a leader of our group. He continually interjects his own character into the show and that is a good thing. Seth plays football at Central and is quite the ladies man! His good looks and boyish charm have served him nicely over the years. Both of these guys are special to my family and I've enjoyed watching them grow as young men.

In our show, Cameron is the big guy, Jesus. However, he basically knows every story, song and role and could perform them if needed. Seth plays a multitude of roles including Judas and the Judge.

One of these guys once refused to get on the Tour bus because he didn't want to leave his mother. The other one fixed a candlelight dinner for his date and actually made the pasta from scratch! If you can figure this out, then you, too, will Know Your Godspeller!

Know Your Godspeller

Now let's look at an old veteran and a brand new member. From my point of view, Mackenzie May and Jasmine Brown will bring lots of energy to our show. Mackenzie is a lifer. She's been in Spirit forever and follows in the footsteps of her sister. Jasmine is new to our family and tends to have one speed...upbeat!

Mackenzie is going to be a senior next year at Wall High School. There, she will be a cheerleading captain. She has been involved in One-Act Play and normally dates some dude named Brian. Jasmine is a member of the Texas State Champion Gymnastics team at Central High School. I think she excels in the vault. If there is a better dancer than Jasmine, I don't know them.

Mackenzie does and has done just about every role and story in Godspell. Mainly, she'll perform the role of Mary Magdeline. Jasmine might be seen in a "fight" with Seth. She packs a lot of power in that petite little body!

One of these girls has friends at the church we are performing for in Charleston, SC. The other one drives a "slugbug silver." Figure that out and you, too, will Know Your Godspeller!

Know Your Godspeller

Our next installment features Michal Tegeler and Nicole Clemens. They are wrapping up their sophomore year in high school. Nicole use to be a swimmer and will be a Tex Ann next year. Michal is big in the choir. Listen to her sing and you'll know why.

These girls are some of the "cool" chicks in the group. They should have been very blond headed. For some reason, they are not. Anytime loud laughter erupts on the bus, they seem to be right in the middle of it. They are great kids and generally, just fun to be around.

Michal has some really good singing parts in Godspell. If you remember our Spirit Renewed show, or as I like to call it, Michal and Friends, you can see we depend on her quite a bit. Nicole has some lines and is very dramatic in her delivery.

One of these girls lives on the edge of the dress code. The other one was once accused of stealing a leaf blower. Figure this out and you, too, will Know Your Godspeller!

The latest edition of Know Your Godspeller in which I give you my view of some of the youth spotlights Rebecca Hardegree and Kristen Escalona. I've know these girls a majority of their lives. Kristen was just a Little Rascal at the Gingerbread House when she came into our lives. I've coached them each and have watched them grow into young ladies.

Both of these girls are very active in club volleyball and make excellent grades. Rebecca was the Student Council President at Lee Middle School this year. Kristen was also an officer in the Junior National Honor Society. They are both involved in the Rebel Rage performing choir. These girls each inherited a great sense of humor from thier parents. Rebecca has the world's greatest eyebrows. Kristen has the world's best smile.

In Godspell, they have little lines here and there as appropriate for 8th graders. They both love Spirit and look forward to this year's Tour.

One of these girls has a dog named Riley. The other one has a birth mark shaped like the State of Kentucky. Figure that out and you, too, will Know Your Godspeller!

Know Your Godspeller

Today we feature couple of the guys. Sterling Harkey and Luke Coleman have been in Spirit for quite some time. They are gifted in the areas of drama. In singing, not so much.

They are actually very good performers and add a lot of character to our production. Sterling is a long distance runner (eeeek!) and was part of the Wall High School Texas State Champion cross-country team. He's set to graduate this year and will move on to college. Luke prefers football and seems to be a fan of the Texas Longhorns. He's finishing his sophomore year and is the 3rd sibling in his family to perform with Spirit.

These guys have all kinds of roles in both casts. You really can't miss them. You might see Sterling betraying Jesus and Luke (Lucas Paul) portraying a priest.

One of these guys gets more mileage out of his hat than anyone I know. The other has driven a riding lawnmower into a swimming pool. Figure this out and you, too, will Know Your Godspeller.

Know Your Godspeller

This is a new feature which tells you a little bit about what I know about our youth. I don't know everything about our kids but I know a little bit about all of them.

Let's start at the bottom. Our first feature is on Sydney Wegner and Lauren Weise. These girls are 7th graders and attend school in Wall. They are first class knuckleheads! They attend FUMC and normally hangout in the 11th Hour service. They always seem to be smiling at practice so I'll assume they are enjoying Spirit.

We don't normally expect much in the way of production from our 7th graders, but this years group actually has some talent. They both claim to be sopranos. We'll take their word for it.

These girls are looking forward to their first Tour. You can see them in the role of the "babies" and the traditional 7th grade role of "piggies."

One of these girls raises goats. The other ones mom is a singer. Figure that out and you, too, will Know Your Godspeller!

Final Mandatory Meeting

We will meet on Wednesday, May 30th at 7:30 in the Cheers classroom at FUMC. We will go over the final Tour plans and hand out the Tour itenerary. This will allow you to know where your kid is at all times.

We must have all your childs information, including releases, before they can step foot on the bus. We have no choice in this matter.

Please make plans to attend.

Your cooperation is appreciated.

This Trip is Shaping Up

Laura has been hard at work putting most of the finishing touches on the trip. I'm not sure of everything at this time but I think the kids can certainly expect to go to the Atlanta Acquarium, ride in a horse drawn carriage, visit a plantation, attend a Braves baseball game, and possibly even swim with a "flippin" dolphin. Of course, our itenerary can always change, but certainly some good things are in store.

Hotels are being confirmed, performance sites are nailed down, and host homes have been obtained in Fredericksburg. We'll keep you informed if there are any major changes.
Hang in there.

Website Construction is Taking Place

As Tour quickly approaches, we have set into motion the arrangements for sending pictures of your little darlings over the net. We are in the "beta testing" phase, whatever that is!

Our hope will again be to download 24-30 pictures a day onto the FUMC website for your viewing. If all goes as planned, you again will be able to leave a memo in the Guestbook for us to read to the kids. We love it when Momma sends a little love message to "Pookie Bear," also known as Mallory Mellott, so that we can read it on the bus. (It helps pass the time.) I know the kids enjoy hearing those messages and we encourage you to participate.

If you go a couple of days without seeing your kid in a picture, please notify us via the Guestbook immediately! It could be we left them in Georgia and haven't figured it out yet.

Note to Jess' Mother - We will make every effort to include pictures of the band this year. Yes, we know they are an integral part of the show and we value them very much. Yes, we know you want to see his smiling face so that you can see for yourself he is having a good time and is prospering.

Let it be.

The Pigs Got Clothes!

The 7th graders were treated to breakfast on Saturday as they met at the local Goodwill to search for costume items for this year's Tour. Apparently, it was a success. Sydney even picked up a Sunday dress for nearly nothing! My thanks go out to Hannah Bozeman and her mother for continually indoctrinating these "oinkers" into our group. Truly, Hannah continues to be one of our greater "Fishers of Pigs."

Seniors are Planning a Service

As has become tradition, the seniors will host a service on this years tour. I believe it to be scheduled for Gulf Shores, Alabama and most likely will take place on the beach. This can be a very emotional and spiritual event. They have begun planning for the service and I suspect they will provide a very meaningful experience for us all.

One senior missed the planning session and he was assigned the Sermon.
Mean
I hate when that happens!

Let that be a lesson to us all.

Payments for Tour are Coming Due

Please remember that your payments for the Tour of $600 are coming due. Many of you are completely paid, while many of you have not started. Final payment is due on May 30th!

If full payment can not be made by that date, please notify me, Jeffrey J. Bozeman, as soon as possible so that we make work out some type of arrangement. All of the youth now attending have been participating for a lot of this year. We will not let them miss out on this tour due to funding problems. However, we can not help if we do not know. Please let me know so that we can make a plan.

Practice, Practice, Practice

Remember, we are practicing at least 2 times per week on Wednesdays and Sundays. Please make every attempt to be there as the Tonester is trying to arrange pysical bodies in their place for the staging. It is extremely difficult when people are missing. Please let us know if you will not be there!
