Before each show, we receive a devotional. Some will be by adults, and some by the kids. We already have two volunteers. The trio of Kristin Escalona, Mallory Mellot, and Hannah Bozeman will lead us on one night. The other volunteer, Brett Wesley, who is fulfilling his public service punishment for failing to attend the mandatory meeting, will bring us another message. Brett actually did this for us last year and did a great job.

Heading Down Hill
Two months from today we will be returning home from our tour with a special Father's Day Homecoming performance. That's hard for me to believe. Obvioulsy, we have a long way to go and a short time to get there! The administrative part of the tour is coming together piece-by-peice. Hopefullly, when it's all said and done, you or your child will have a place to lay their head each night and a place to perform on occasion.
We're still hoping to sing our National Anthem at the Braves game. They play the Cubbies. We have no idea what our chances are but we're going to apply for the position and hope we are selected. Regardless, that night at the park is Parrot Head night. Apparently, they are honoring the sounds of Jimmy Buffett as a promotion. I don't think he is actually scheduled to be there but a concert will be held by a band that sings all of his songs. Maybe we should apply to sing Wasted away again in Margaritaville? I don't think you have to be right on key for that one!
Parts are being assigned for Godspell. Everybody will have at least one speaking or dramatic part. It might be large, it might be small. You can bet lots of thought went into the assignment. As always, there will be at least two persons assigned to fill each role, no matter how small it is. A few songs will actually have additional members performing them. They may not be scheduled as one of the two cast to perform this year, but they are welcome to work on those numbers during the rehearsals this year to better prepare them for the future. It is often best for the younger participants to kind of spend one year as an apprentice. It sure helps their confidence in subsequent years.
Rehearsals are very important. With only about 8 practices left, we don't even have time to cover one song per practice. Therefore, if you miss a rehearsal, you probably miss a song! Good luck on faking it. Then there is the matter of choreography. If you miss out on learning that portion of the show, you will be noticed during the performances. Grandma will be able to pick you out of the crowd because you'll be the one with the stunned look on your face running in circles and looking for a crowd to join. There are certain numbers that Tony and Audrey have to have everyone there for to set up the staging properly. If people are missing, it is nearly impossible. Those that miss may be forced to stand at the edge of the stage and extend thier arms towards the action making fancy hand gestures.
I know some of the kids are excited because they have said so. Don't forget that payment for the trip is due by June 1st. You can always call me for your balance and I'll give you the lastest information I have. If you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to give one of us a call.
