Rehearsals On Sunday

Don't forget the rehearsals on Sunday.

Girls go first from 3:00 to 4:00. Guys go next, from 4:00 to 5:00. If you're not sure which group is yours, call the person you've been standing by and ask them when they're going.

Singing This Sunday

Remember this! Spirit sings this Sunday at both services at FUMC. We need you there. Edwin is not good enough to pull this off by himself. Probably the first 4 chairs in the State could do it. But not the 5th. Wear what you'd normally wear to church. Show up at 8:00 a.m. in the Spirit rehearsal room on the 3rd floor.

New Calendar Is Out

The "powers that be" (also known as Tony), has completed an Official Calendar to get us through the rest of the year. It should be coming through "snail mial" to you very soon. It is muey importante that you keep this document and refer to it on a regular basis.

It is possible and likely that it will change as we progress. However, it should not change very much. If you are ever not sure, please do not hesitate to call and ask.

Remember, if you are not going to make a rehearsal, please call The Tone Man. He uses that kind of information to adjust his rehearsals as necessary.

Fight the Power.

SPIRIT IS PERFORMING SOON!

Spirit will be singing anthems at First United Methodist Church each month. They are currently scheduled on Sunday, January 28th. They will sing "Let us Pray." The time is yet to be determined.

This committment is part of the groups ministry to serve others through their gifts. Even if you don't attend FUMC, please make every effort to be there as we need all the voices we can muster.

They are also scheduled to sing on February 25th. They'll either sing something they've been working on or the entire soundtrack of Disney's High School Musical. If I were a betting man, I'd go with something they've been working on!

Let it be!

Spirit Renewed

It's that time! Spirit Renewed will be presented on March 3rd and 4th. For those of you who may not be familiar with it, it is a variety type show put on by Spirit. Sometimes, other guest are involved. There may or may not be someone famous this year! It's my favorite show we do as the kids are allowed to do some things that are different than their normal routine.

This years show is Listen to the Music. Tony is preparing some great arrangements that you will like, including a little sumptin, sumptin from Mama Mia! You won't want to miss that.

Spirit Renewed is also our major fundraiser for the year. Last year we raised right at enough money to pay for our bus. That is a significant dollar amount to us. We'd like to give you parents an option to help us. You can either (1) help with Spirit Renewed or (2) give us $15,000 to pay for this years bus. It doesn't matter to us. (Although, if you decide to pay for the bus, we will agree to name the bus after you for the duration of the trip. We are not too proud to do that). Some of you have previously volunteered for certain committess. Others of you have not. If you have an interest, please let us know.

The eigth grade parents, and some others, will be preparing the meal. We still need help with set up, serving, clean up, and decorating. We will also need everyone's help with Silent Auction items. This is a big portion of the event. No, this is not your chance to get rid of all the junk in your garage that Christmas in April refused! The most popular items are things which have little cost, but solicit good bids. For example, a weekend at your place in the country, dinner for eight cooked up by you and your friends, or a free housecleaning by a group of our youth. Gift baskets have also been popular. Be creative. Put some items and gift cards in a basket, surround it with "phoo-phoo" and watch it go. Craft items, such as Pottery Ranch Spirit related items do very well also. Contact Ginny Fuchs if you have any questions.

This is a very nice event. Tables will be sold as well as individual tickets. Get some friends to come and see your little punkin' perform. Every guest I have ever brought has gone away very impressed and thankful for the opportunity.

Keep it real.

Miscellaneous Plug

For those of you that are interested, please remember that Blake is doing some pretty cool stuff with the First United Methodist youth on Sunday mornings, Sunday nights, Monday nights, and Wednesday nights. If you havn't been, go check him out. He's hip, cool, and may even have some bling!

If your not a member of our church, that don't mean squat. You're always welcome. Like most programs, and your Piggy-bank for that matter, you'll probably get out of it what you put into it.

Are We There Yet?

Believe it or not, Tour is on it's way! Plans are being made as we speak for this year's event. Of course, you already know it's going to happen between June 7 and June 17th. We are currently attempting to schedule the specific churches in which we will perform. Based on that, I would start looking forward to visiting such places as Longview, TX, Atlanta, GA, Charleston, SC, Tallahasse, FL and good 'ol Fredericksburg, TX. Of course there will be other stops and all of this is subject to change (and probably will).
Much work still needs to be done before we are ready, including our presentation of Spirit Renewed and actually preparing the musical Godspell. I can tell you that the kids have been doing very well in rehearsals on Wednesday nights. As you might expect, expect the numbers of rehearsals to increase....maybe a little longer on Wednesday nights and certainly some Sunday afternoons. Good conduct and a charitable SPIRIT towards others will keep our practices to a minimum.
I hope you're getting at least a little excited. If you have any questions, please let us know.
